The Story Behind the No Excuse Today Brand
To understand the origins of the No Excuse Today Brand, let's rewind to where it all began: Pillow Thingy.
Now, I can already sense your curiosity – what exactly is Pillow Thingy? Picture this: a quirky pillow I crafted back in 2018, spurred by a pivotal moment in my life. These pillows came in two sizes and struck a chord with individuals of all ages. I'd sit at my kitchen table (replaced by my workstation table pictured below), stitching away, creating these for boys, girls, men, and women alike. Looking back, sewing these pillows wasn't just a creative endeavor; it became a therapeutic outlet, helping me navigate the shifts unfolding in my life. What's more, I had the joy of imparting pillow-making skills to kids. There was even a phase when I organized workshops, empowering children to fashion and stuff their very own Pillow Thingy’s.
Jump to January 2020, and I was eager to expand the Pillow Thingy brand with new offerings. At that point, I was toying with the idea of creating Pillow Thingy t-shirts – a fleeting thought that vanished in just 2 seconds. Within a few months, the world was turned upside down as Covid-19 emerged, leading to a complete shutdown. With lightning speed, I had to adapt, shifting into teaching mode.
Interestingly, I had already crafted a mask (thanks to a suggestion from one of my sisters) before the global lockdown hit. I sported the mask while dancing in an Instagram video, aimed at reassuring parents and encouraging them not to panic or scare their kids about the virus. Little did I realize the impact that video would wield. A question popped up: "Are you selling those masks?" Even though I hadn't considered it at the time, since the inquirer was a Pillow Thingy customer, I figured, why not? And just like that, it spiraled into something much bigger. My kitchen transformed into a mask production and customer service hub, seemingly overnight. A fellow vendor coined the term "Face Thingy" for the masks, and that's what we adopted as the moniker.
Unfortunately, the FaceThingy factory had a short run, operating only from March to June. Sewing took its toll on me – it was quite the workload. So, I made a decision: it was time to shift gears. I turned my attention toward cultivating my personal brand and pursuing my speaking engagements. And that's precisely how the No Excuse Today brand came to life, my friend.
